Night Guards in Jacksonville

Protect your teeth from nighttime grinding and clenching.

Protect Your Teeth While You Sleep

A night guard is a custom-fitted oral appliance you wear while you sleep to protect your teeth from grinding and clenching, a habit called bruxism.

Many people grind or clench without knowing it. Common signs include:

  • Worn, flattened or chipped teeth
  • A sore or tight jaw, especially in the morning
  • Headaches
  • Sensitive teeth
  • A partner who hears grinding at night

Your care is led by Dillon Hernandez, DMD.

Why a Custom-Fitted Night Guard?

Over time, grinding can wear down enamel, crack or chip teeth and strain the jaw. A night guard places a cushion between your upper and lower teeth, so they take the pressure instead of each other.

A guard made to fit your own teeth is usually more comfortable and secure than a one-size-fits-all guard from a store. Wear from grinding is often spotted during a routine exam, so mention any jaw soreness or morning headaches at your next visit.

Soft night guards are made here in our office from an impression of your teeth. Hard and hard/soft night guards are scanned and sent to our dental laboratory to be made.

Night Guard FAQs

How do I know if I grind my teeth at night?

Many people do not realize they grind or clench. Worn, flat or chipped teeth, a sore jaw, morning headaches and a partner who hears grinding are common signs, and your dentist can often spot the wear during an exam.

Does a night guard stop me from grinding?

No. A night guard does not stop the habit. It protects your teeth from the damage grinding and clenching can cause.

Does insurance cover night guards?

Coverage varies by plan and by the treatment you need. Call our office and we'll help confirm your benefits before treatment starts.
